اما در حالی که کمتر از ۲۰ سال از آن زمان گذشته، آمار کاملا برعکس شده است: حالا بیش از دو سوم مردم آمریکا طرفدار ازدواج همجنس‌ها هستند و تعداد مخالفان به کمتر از یک‌ سوم جمعیت کل کشور رسیده است.!

در قرآن کریم به طور مکرر، قوم لوط که به این انحراف جنسی مبتلا شده بودند مورد نکوهش قرار گرفته و عذاب درناکی که نهایتاً بر آنها نازل شد برای عبرت و پند بیان شده است.
